New project of the normative PNE 53008 Part 2 about design, installation and maintenance of multilayer pipes for gas
The Subcommittee of normalization of AENOR SC2 “Plastic pipes and fittings” whose Secretary’s office is masterfully run by Mª Carmen del Amo of ANAIP, which depends on the Technical Committee of Normalization CTN 53 “Plastics and Rubber” of AENOR, whose Secretary’s office runs the entities ANAIP and COFACO.
Within the SC2 there is a working group which has elaborated the following normative:

Well, this working group has sent to the SC2 the draft commented to ask its approval and the sending of the PNE to Public Information.
Short brief of the project PNE 53008-2
For the elaboration of this normative it has been taken into account the current regulation applicable to the gas receiver installations, as well as the Normative UNE 60670-3, UNE 60670-4 and UNE 60670-8, as they establish the technical criteria, the essential requirements of safety and the guarantees of good service which must be used when designing, building, increasing, modifying, proving and put into service the gas receiver installations supplied at a maximum pressure of operation (MOP) inferior or equal to 5 bar.
In general, the gas receiver installations consist of three parts:
– Internal connection
– Common installation
– Individual installation
Note: The current regulation at the moment of the elaboration of this normative is the Technical Regulation of distribution and usage of gaseous fuels, approved by the RD 919/2006 and their following modifications.
This normative refers to the installation of multilayer pipes, fittings and their joins defined in the chapters 6, 7 and 8, respectively, of the Normative UNE 53008-1.
The multilayer pipes and their joining fittings are delivered like a complete system.
The installers who apply different systems must be up to date the incompatibility of the used components.
Considering this incompatibility, the manufacturer must provide the instructions necessary to do the reparations.
The manufacturer must provide a transitional fitting so that it is connected to the common installations and this connection must fulfil the corresponding normatives.
• Types of join
– Surface compressor (press-fitting)
– Axial compressor (sliding ring)
– Axial compressor (sliding ring)
• Protection in case of fire
The designer must consider the possibility of the apparition of a seat of fire in the building where it is to the gas channelling.
The design of the gas installation must minimise the possibility of an explosion or of important additional problems of fire, for that it is obligatory the installation of a device of flow excess according to Normative UNE 60719, whose type must be chosen in function to where it is installed, as a way of protection again possible unexpected breaks of the channelling. Such device must be placed at the beginning of each collective and individual installation, after the regulator, preferably, in the external side.
• Storage, transportation and handling
The pipes and fittings must be stored and transported in the way that this minimises the possibility of damages on the material. It must be avoided the contact with aggressive agents or solvents. The stored bars must be stacked on a surface reasonably flat, free of sharp objects, stones or protrusions which can deform or damage the pipes. The stacking must be never the cause of deformation of the section of the pipe.
During the handling it must be avoided every risk of damage, carrying the pipes and fittings without dragging on the floor or cement surfaces, up to the workplace. A handling without any care can lead to the damage of the materials and produce defects in the installation.
